Mercedes Launches Its Latest Luxury Electric Convertible

Since their existence, electric vehicles (EVs) have come a long way, with automakers such as Chevrolet, Volkswagen, Tesla, and others developing new, sleek, efficient models. Tesla is currently leading the pack, unveiling both luxury and more inexpensive models ranging from sedans to semi-trucks.

In its attempt to foray into the electric vehicle arena, Mercedes-Maybach has taken the wraps off its new concept vehicle, the Vision 6 Cabriolet, at the recently concluded Monterey Car Week in California. The concept car is a futuristic, luxury convertible that runs purely on electricity.

According to Gorden Wagener, Daimler AG chief design officer, the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 Cabriolet takes modern luxury into the arena of ultimate luxury and is the perfect epitome of their design strategy. He noted that breathtaking proportions paired with a deluxe haute couture interior help to create the ultimate experience.

Vision 6 Cabriolet cranks out 750 horsepower and can go more than 320 km on a single charge. It is a great follow-up to the previous Vision 6 Coupe, which was rolled out last year. What makes this new model special is that it comes with a boat tail end, and is almost 6 meters long, giving the car an appearance similar to a luxury yacht.

Buying Exotic Cars: Expectations Vs Realities

What’s the first thing that enters your mind when you hear about an exotic car? Is it an Italian craftsmanship like Ferrari or a British masterpiece like McLaren? Or maybe, you visualize muscle and luxury cars such as Chevrolet Camaro, Aston Martin or Ford Mustang.

Whatever exotic cars in Dubai you are dreaming to own, you need to keep in mind that it takes more than just cash to take it home. Apart from searching for reputable luxury car dealers, you also need to negotiate your loan rate, request to modify or upgrade some things, discuss the terms and so on.

The Process of Buying the Best Luxury Cars

There are several exotic cars to select from, especially if you have hefty cash to spare. However, it’s going to be easier said than done to finally decide on ‘the one’ as there are several factors at play. Of course, one of the initial things you need to do is set your budget. By setting a ceiling, you can reduce the stress of choosing from a number of options.

Next, given that you are searching for an exotic car, you have to define its “exoticness”. Research, jot down your preferences and know the nomenclature associated with sports cars or luxury cars, including the engine they have and so forth. In doing so, you can be upfront with the salesperson regarding the details of the car you are interested in. It is also important to be direct regarding your preferred price range and to round it up, so you can further choose from wide-ranging models.

Take note that dealers seldom enable potential car buyers to test drive a car right then and there. Hence, to make the right decision on which exotic car to consider, research online and check out unbiased reviews or test drive videos of your shortlisted cars.

Additional Things to Keep in Mind

When buying luxury cars in Dubai, it is critical to show proof of your financial capability. You also need to know about the various maintenance plans, brands, models, and gearing options that are currently available or will soon be. By engaging with the salesperson, you will be able to get a decent plan at an affordable price.

If you are setting sights on pre-owned cars in Dubai, you also need to check their condition, mileage, transmission and other parts that you consider critical before making the final decision.

Owning an exotic car is truly a great achievement. However, when it comes to buying one, you need to be realistic and drop your expectations so the process will be as smooth as possible. To make it a stress-free experience, deal only with a reputable dealership with a proven track record in the industry.

Great Audi Models to Purchase in Dubai

If there’s one thing that 4 wheel drive owners can be proud of their cars, that is their superior performance even in slippery conditions. This is why in terms of maximum traction in less than ideal conditions, the all-wheel drive system found in Audi cars is a force to be reckoned with.

Old 4 wheel drive systems required bulky hardware which caused inefficiencies and inconvenience by default. The good news is that modern 4×4 systems are normally nearly as proficient at squeezing the maximum out of every gallon of fuel as their two wheel counterparts. Hence, you will have a win-win situation if you opt for 4WDs.

Audi is touted as the pioneer in the AWD car market, and has included their Quattro drive system in a number of models since the 1980s. If you want to save on your purchase but own the car that offers superior performance all season long, checking out used Audi cars is a great decision.

Two of the most popular models of this German car are the A4 and A6 sedans.

If you prefer a small, fuel-efficient car that can maintain maximum traction even on wet roads, the former would be an ideal choice. Let’s take the A4 2002 as an example. It is powered by a turbocharged 1.8L engine that cranks out 170hp. It may not be earth shaking, but it is great for a small car given that the torque curve begins low at just under 2000 rotations per minute. What’s perfect about this car is that it comes with the Quattro AWD system and you can still anticipate to get over 48 kilometers per gallon during highway driving.

Meanwhile, the Audi A6 is ideal for those who want more power and a more spacious interior. This all-wheel drive features either a 220hp 3.0L V6, 250hp 2.7L turbocharged V6 or a big 4.2L V8 that cranks out 300hp. For the fuel economy-minded driver, the 3.0L V6 is the ultimate choice, but if your focus is more on the traction, any of the aforementioned models will meet your needs.

These are two of the best suggestions to get you started in your 4 wheel drive search. You can also check out the full size Audi A8, but this model will require you to spend more as it comes with additional high-end features.

There are a number of used car dealerships in Dubai that offer Audi for sale. To have a stress-free shopping experience, visit only a reputable pre-owned cars dealer. The Elite Cars is one of the most trusted dealerships in the region that you can consider as it offers topnotch services and the widest range of luxury cars under one roof.

Are you charmed by the timeless beauty and uncompromising performance of Jaguar? If you are dreaming to own one, you need to be sure of what model will live up to your expectations and suit your lifestyle.

Every style of this British masterpiece provides drivers and occupants with an exceptional driving and riding experience. Whether you prefer a new or used Jaguar in Dubai, it will take your car ownership to new heights as the automaker’s reputation for superb workmanship on the car’s interior, body and mechanical aspects distinguish it from other typical high-end brands.

Here are just some of the recommended checklists that will help you ensure a smooth buying experience:

  • Search online – Knowledge is power. By keeping yourself educated of the ins and outs of the Jaguar world, you will be able to make an informed buying decision.

  • Find the Right Dealership – Purchasing a Jaguar in Dubai from a private individual is not a good idea. By dealing with a reputable dealer, you can rest assured that the cars you are purchasing have gone through quality checks. Plus, all the legwork and paperwork will be handled by the salesperson. On top of that, you will be provided with warranty, insurance and flexible finance options.
  • Background check – Ensure that the car has not been involved in any accidents and has a clean title. Actually, you don’t have to stress over this as this is taken care of by the dealership you are dealing with.
  • Test drive – Before you close the deal, make sure that you get a feel of the car’s handling and comfort. If it’s your first time to purchase a car, it would be great to invite a friend who’s knowledgeable so he/she can advise you on what to do.

Looking for Jaguar Dubai used cars? The best place to find them is in a Jaguar Dubai showroom. What’s great about entrusting your needs to a dealership is that you can rest assured that the luxury car you are purchasing is free from defects and has a clean title. Plus, you will be able to take advantage of flexible finance options and discounts.

What are you waiting for? Conduct extensive research on the best Jaguar that will suit your budget and lifestyle! When you’re done, start searching for the right showroom that will be able to meet your needs. Sun City Motors is just one of them.

The New Range Rover RS600 in Black With Concave Truck Wheels

The Range Rover Sport is one of the few luxury SUVs that can provide a comfortable road on the street and handle itself off-road through almost any kind of terrain. These unique capabilities made it the ideal choice for one British aftermarket design and tuning team who created a special and exciting SUV. The Range Rover underwent a big transformation from the engine to the exterior and everything in between. The British company outfitted the off-road luxury SUV with a variety of engine performance upgrades, a new body kit with slick black paint, a new set of concave truck wheels, and an even more luxurious interior.

The British aftermarket design and tuning team started things off with the exterior of the SUV. The Range Rover was outfitted with a stylish and aggressive body kit with a number of lighting accessories. The front wears a new bumper with 3-D mesh grille and larger air intakes. A large company badge is embossed into the front of the engine hood while special LED daytime running lights flank each of the dark headlights. Each fender wears a company logo and has been extended to accommodate the bigger concave truck wheels. Side skirts with undercar LED lighting connect the axles and visually lower the SUV. The rear of the Range Rover wears a new bumper, a large roof spoiler for downforce, a new tailgate logo, and LED brake lights. The entire exterior of the car was then covered in a deep metallic black paint while a special matte black stripe was added atop the hood and roof to provide some contrast.

The British team then focused on the chassis to add some style and performance. The factory brake calipers were all painted red to stand out from the new black paint. They were then covered with new concave truck wheels in a wide 10.0 x 22 front and rear fitment with off-road tires that offer good road noise to maintain comfort. The rims each wear a matte black finish to match the stripe that runs from the hood to the roof.

Beneath the hood of the Range Rover Sport sits a tuned 5.0-liter supercharged V-8 engine. The team installed a modified supercharger and retuned the ECU so that it produces more power. The result was a total of 545 horsepower and 600 lb-ft. of torque being sent to each of the concave truck wheels for quicker acceleration and performance.

Inside, the British team gave the Range Rover Sport a rich and luxurious interior. Each seat was outfitted with soft leather and custom stitching, the dashboard was decorated with a new clock and trim pieces, and new mats and aluminum pedals were installed on the floor.

The Ferrari 458 Italia Spider Sports Car

The Ferrari 458 Italia Spider – A close look at this sports car performance, technical data, features, comparing rivals, history, used prices

from Classic to Modern

THE CAR

The 458 Spider sports car, also referred to as the Ferrari 458 Italia Spider, was introduced in 2011 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, and priced at $257,000.

It was the convertible version of the 458 Italia, and featured a unique retractable hardtop.

This was, in essence, a roadster that replaced the conventional soft top with an automatically operated hardtop, made entirely of aluminium, which stored itself away in front of the engine bay in as little as 14 seconds, and without affecting the car’s aerodynamics. The coefficient of drag remained at 0.33.

The engine cover of the 458 Italia was modified to contain this new system, which actually weighed 25 kg less than that of the soft top used in the F430 Spider.

An additional benefit was that extra space was created behind the seats in order to store luggage, etc.

Externally, this sports car looked very similar to the coupe variant, with the front section remaining unchanged, whilst the rear area received minor styling changes to maximise the flow of air to the engine’s cooling ducts and oil cooler.

A further innovation was that the 458 Spider was fitted with a large, adjustable, electrically operated wind break, which was designed to slow down and dissipate the airflow throughout the cockpit so that conversation between the occupants was not affected, even at high speed.

The Spider weighed in at 3153 lbs, slightly heavier than the 3042 lbs of the 458 Italia.

It had an aluminium body on an aluminium chassis which had been strengthened in order to withstand the additional stresses consistent with the removal of the roof section.

It used rear wheel drive, with 20 inch wheels, and carbon ceramic ventilated and drilled disc brakes.

There was a steering wheel mounted Manettino switch which controlled the limited slip differential (E-Diff), the traction control (F1-Trac), ABS, dampers and transmission, all activated electronically.

THE ENGINE

The 458 Spider was powered by the same 4.5 litre, V8 mid-engine, with the new direct fuel injection as used in the 458 Italia.

It produced the same 0-60 mph time of 3.3 secs, whilst the top speed was 3 mph slower at 199 mph.

It had a huge 12.5:1 compression, and used a seven speed Getrag F1-style paddle shift gearbox with a dual clutch.

The Spider produced 570 bhp at 9000 rpm (the red line), and 398 ft/lbs of torque at 6000 rpm, with most being on tap down at 3250 rpm.

Overall fuel consumption was 21 mpg. Technical data:

COMPETITION

Typical of the competition of the Ferrari 458 Italia Spider were the following sports cars: Audi R8 GT Spider, and Mercedes SLS AMG Roadster. Ferrari performance:

SPORTS CARS FOR SALE

A Ferrari 458 Italia Spider in good condition could fetch around $300,000, whilst an example in showroom condition could command up to $525,000.

The Ferrari 458 Speciale and Speciale A Sports Car

The Ferrari 458 Speciale – A close look at this sports car performance, technical data, features, comparing rivals, history, used prices from Classic to Modern.

The Ferrari 458 Speciale

THE CAR

The Ferrari 458 Speciale sports car was launched in 2013 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, with a price tag of £298,000, and was based on the 458 Italia.

Externally, the most distinctive feature was the blue and white stripes along the centre of the car.

Additions that improved aerodynamics included:

  • A bonnet that contained reverse vents that helped reduce drag
  • Sills that were fitted with fins
  • A rear spoiler, with a modified shape, positioned higher up and with increased surface area, produced additional downforce
  • Restyled composite bumpers containing ducts that slowed the air and increased the ground effect

Another interesting feature involved moveable flaps at both front and rear. At slow speeds, the flaps were closed and directed cooling air onto the radiators.

However, as speed increased, the flaps opened and reduced drag by restricting the airflow to the radiators. In this way, there was an increase in downforce at the rear of the car.

Below the rear grille, the exhaust consisted of two pipes instead of the trio on the other variant, whilst a large rear diffuser further increased downforce.

An intriguing addition to the electronic control systems was referred to as Side Slip Angle Control, or SCC, which involved analysing the angle between a wheel’s actual direction and that towards which it was pointing, and referring the readings to targeted values.

The result was that, by way of F1-Trac, the level of traction control in respect of prevailing road conditions could be mananged, whilst E-Diff, the electronic limited slip differential, would monitor the torque applied to each wheel.

The 458 Speciale sports car had a dry weight of 1290 kg, some 90 kg less than that of the 458 Italia, and with specific weight-saving measures, the engine itself was 7 kg lighter.

It used the latest Brembo disc brakes with improved pads, which increased heat dispersal and helped produce shorter stopping distances, such as 62 mph to zero in only 31 metres.

It was fitted with newly designed 20 inch forged road wheels which reduced overall weight by a further 10 kg.

THE ENGINE

The 458 Speciale sports car was powered by the same 4.5 litre, V8 engine as in the 458 Italia, but output was increased to 597 bhp at 9000 rpm (the redline), and 398 ft/lbs of torque at 6000 rpm.

Fitted with a 7 speed Getrag gearbox, it produced a top speed of 202 mph, and a 0-60 mph time of 3.0 secs, with 0-125 mph in 9.1 secs.

The engine was the most powerful non-turbo unit produced to date, and used a massive 14:1 compression ratio which was produced by altering the geometry of the pistons, and using lightweight components.

The F1-style paddle shift gearbox, with dual clutch, was now fitted with new software, which resulted in the time taken for the engine revs to match the appropriate gear to be substantially reduced. Technical data

COMPETITION

Typical competition for the Ferrari 458 Speciale included the following sports cars: Audi R8 GT, and Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4. Ferrari performance:

The Ferrari 458 Speciale A

THE CAR

In 2014, a year after the introduction of the 458 Speciale coupe, the convertible variant was launched, and designated the 458 Speciale A sports car, where the letter “A” referred to the term Aperta, which was the Italian for Open.

It was built as a limited edition of just 499 units, and with the same engine and gearbox, produced the same 0-60 mph time of 2.8 secs, but the top speed was reduced from 202 to 199 mph.

It weighed just 50 kg more then the coupe variant, and used the same automatically operated aluminium hardtop, as used in the 458 Italia Spider sports car, which stored itself away in front of the engine bay in just 14 seconds. Technical data:

COMPETITION

Typical competition for the Ferrari 458 Speciale A included the following sports cars: Audi R8 V10 Spider, and Lamborghini Huracan LP610-4 convertible. Ferrari performance:

The Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 Sports Car

The Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 – A close look at this sports car including performance, technical data, features, comparing rivals, history, used prices

from Classic to Modern

THE CAR

The 458 Italia GT2 sports car was launched in 2011, and alongside it, Ferrari launched the 458 Italia GT3 racer which, like its stable mate, was based on the 458 Italia.

Additional weight reduction methods meant that the GT3 was slightly lighter than the GT2.

The GT3’s aerodynamics were improved by the addition of a different front bumper, enlarged air vents for more efficient engine cooling, very small windows, and alternative side skirts.

The interior received liberal use of carbon fibre fitments.

The Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 sports car was designed and developed exclusively with an eye to the track and, as such, was a world apart from the 458 Italia.

It was not road legal, and had a dry weight of only 1214 kg, substantially less than that of the road variant.

It was fitted with flared wings all round, whose width had been increased by 10 cm. Other additions included:

  • Full roll cage
  • Reducing the ride height
  • Modified exhaust system
  • 18 inch road wheels at the front and 19 inch at the rear
  • Very low front splitter
  • Highly distinctive rear wing whose proportions almost verged on the absurd

Using the same 4.5 litre, V8 power plant, developed by Michelotto, and fitted with two 43 mm air restrictors to meet the FIA regulations, plus a compression ratio of 13.1:1, it was able to develop 550 bhp at the redline of 9000 rpm, more in line with the 458 Italia’s 562 bhp than that of the GT2’s 464 bhp.

However, modifications to the engine had, as their primary objective, the production of more torque, rather than an increase in output.

To this end, the GT3 developed 406 ft/lbs of torque at 6000 rpm, compared with that of the 458 Italia of 398 ft/lbs.

In terms of external appearance, the fact that the 458 Italia GT3 racer was lighter, lower, developed more torque, and had an aggressive rear wing made it a force to be reckoned with.

In a summary of its race credentials, amongst its numerous place wins was that it was a four times winner of the 24 Hour race at Spa.

In fact, the 2011 event included a line-up of no less than seven GT3’s. Technical data:

COMPETITION

Typical competition for the Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 included the following sports cars: Audi R8 GT, and Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4. Ferrari performance:

What to Expect from the 2018 Lamborghini Aventador S

Lamborghini has recently surprised its aficionados with the debut of its new Aventador S, which is touted by journalists as a blood relative to the fiercest monster on the planet. Here’s the catch: featuring huge differences in design and technology, this supercar focuses mainly on entertainment.

Characterizing the new Aventador S, Alessandro Farmeschi, Lamborghini’s chief operating officer, said in a statement that it would be a pleasure not only for their customers but also for those who watch their cars. Well, he’s just being upfront. Nowadays, those who purchase the latest and most expensive watches and go on the most exclusive holidays are the ones buying Lamborghinis.

The premier Italian automaker’s “S” badging has always denoted improved technology and performance. However, it has been designed to become a 21st century supercar exclusively for the thinking man, and the team who worked on it have ensured to cultivate a luxury lifestyle that is fascinating and inclusive as well as accommodating but aspirational.

Much is expected of the Aventador S when it comes to sales and here are some of the reasons why:

More Speed and More Power

The new Aventador S’s V12 engine is a huge upgrade on the same boundary-breaking, naturally aspirated mid-rear V12s that went on to position the Countach, Muira, Murciélago, and Diablo to legendary status. It cranks out 40 more horsepower on top of the 2017 Aventador’s 700. Moreover, it generates higher torque and higher revs in general.

Four-Wheel Steering

The system Lambo, which was developed for the rear wheels to steer and direct the car independently of the front, is considered as the most extraordinary element of this year’s edition of the Aventador S. Apart from being a four-wheel-drive car, it is also a four-wheel-steer car.

This implies that on corners, the rear wheels can turn themselves and shorten the distance to the front wheels, which creates a shorter wheelbase. Actually, this is a great thing as short wheelbases are more nimble than long wheelbases.

Magna-Ride

The 2018 Aventador S also takes pride on its new damper controls and updated suspension kinematics called “Lamborghini Magnetorheological Suspension 2.0 Hi-Fi”, and utilizes electromagnetic fluid to adapt to any road conditions.

Ego Mode

Thanks to a new seven-speed gearbox with independent shifting rods, it enables for quicker and smoother transitions. Hence, the new Aventador S offers a sportier feel when utilizing the manual paddle shifters as every gear change is more accurate. Moreover, it is more comfortable to drive in automatic as every gear change is ironed out like a sail.

Design Improvements

Aventador S’s tail lights as well as rear and sides, get design inspiration from fighter jets and space rockets. There are also new vents in the sides and underneath the car which enhance air cooling. Plus, the rear-end has been restructured to be larger and squarer for better aerodynamics, which translates into better efficiency and faster speeds.

Polished Cockpit

The Aventador S, featuring a trimmed and fitted interior, takes luxury to the next level. It boasts ergonomic leather seats and vertically opening doors that now come with handles located along the floorboard. Moreover, there is now an instrument cluster behind the steering wheel.

Want to redefine your driving experience? Get behind the wheel of the 2018 Aventador S today!

Exotic Cars: Expectations and Realities When Looking for One

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you think of exotic cars? Is it a popular sports car like a Ferrari or Lamborghini? Or maybe you prefer some of the latest muscle and luxury cars around, like the Ford Mustang, the Chevrolet Camaro, or the Ashton Martin V12 Vantage S.

Whatever rare car you’re dreaming of, you should know from the outset that it takes more than a bulging briefcase of cash (or a check with dozens of zeros) to get your own exotic car of choice. Look back to the first time you’ve bought a car. Snagging the car of your dreams requires more than just walking into that dealership: you’ve got to negotiate your loan rate (if any), discuss the terms, request to upgrade or modify some things here and there, and so on. Let’s discuss the process of buying an exotic car.

An Opportunity of a Lifetime

There are many exotic cars to choose from, especially if money is no object, but it’s certainly going to be easier said than done to decide on ‘the one’. One of the first things you should do is to set your budget: say, like $200,000. Setting a ceiling automatically lessens the stress of choosing from possibly dozens of options to a more manageable list.

Next, since you’re looking for an exotic car, you need to define for yourself the “exoticness” of a car. Do research online, list down your preferences, and learn the nomenclature associated with luxury cars or sports cars, including what sort of engine they’ve got and so forth. That way, you can be upfront with the dealership’s salesperson by saying the details of the car you want. Remember to tell him/her your preferred price range as well, and don’t be afraid to round it up so you’d have a wider range of models on the top of the heap.

Keep in mind that dealers rarely allow potential car buyers to test drive a car right of the bat. To help you decide on which exotic cars to consider, search online and read unbiased reviews or test drive videos of your shortlisted cars.

Do note that rare cars that are reviewed online might not be available in your market, so make sure to list down several options and rank them based on your personal criteria.

Dos and Don’ts

Do show proof with regards to your financial capabilities. Ask the sales staff to inform you about different maintenance plans, gearing options, brands, and models that are currently available or will soon be. The more you’re able to engage with the salespeople, the likelier it is for you to get a decent plan at the lowest price.

If you want a car that crosses state lines, don’t be afraid to do some cross-country traveling to get it.

When permitted, take the lucky car/s for a brief spin in order to get a good feel of the vehicle, from its purring engine to how fast it can really go.

If you want online tools that can assist you in locating any exotic car that you deem fancy enough to be part of your car collection or garage, visit websites like Cars.com, eBayMotors.com, and AutoTrader.com.

Finally, make sure to check an exotic car’s mileage, condition, options, transmission, and other parts that you deem important before making a final decision.

Some Interesting Facts About Lamborghini

The technology behind each Lamborghini masterpiece is said to be a beast. From its unique aerodynamic features and looks, it comes to no surprise that most sports car enthusiasts prefer the exotic car brand. Almost everybody dreams of owning one.

If you’ve ever been to any place in the UAE, you’ll immediately notice their culture for luxury cars, including Lamborghinis. But there are many features to consider, like the most advanced safety options, entertainment technology, and customization.

Interesting Lamborghini Facts

Known for their exotic cars, Lamborghinis have been praised from the engine, to the body. It was first started to build better cars than Ferrari’s infamous vehicles. If you’re planning to buy your own Lambo, here are some interesting facts you should know.

1. Lamborghini was a master mechanic.

Most people consider Ferruccio Lamborghini as the original Tony Stark. He was stationed on an isolated island during WWII for the Italian Royal Air Force as a vehicle maintenance supervisor. Because it was difficult to secure parts, Lamborghini cobbled together scraps to keep his machines running.

2. The first Lamborghinis were tractors.

He used his WWII experience to put together tractors out of spare parts. From there, Lamborghini officially started his business, and people loved his products. Today, Lamborghini Trattori operates under a different company, but are still designed by the same firm that created the Gallardo and the Maserati MC12.

3. Ferrari’s mean customer service.

Ferruccio actually owned a Ferrari 250GT back in the days. He wanted a replacement for his clutch, so he went to the Maranello headquarters. After asking Enzo Ferrari, the reply he got was, “You’re just a silly tractor manufacturer, how could you possibly know anything about sports cars?” Four months later, he released Lamborghini 350GTV.

4. Current model with scissor doors.

Murcielago is the only current model with scissor doors. These rotate up and forward on a hinge, near the front of the door. The Countach, the Diablo and the Murcielago all have scissor doors, but the Gallardo does not. Both the Countach and the Diablo are no longer being produced.

5. No less than a V8 engine.

Most of the Lamborghini models throughout the history of the company have come with the legendary Lamborghini V12 engine. The newest model, Gallardo, only has V10. No Lamborghini have ever been produced with less than a V8 since production of the Silhouette stopped in 1989.

6. The fastest Lamborghini

The fastest Lamborghini is the Le Mans version of the Murcielago R-GT model. It has a top speed of 370 km/h. Meanwhile, the fastest street model from Lamborghini is the Murcielago LP640, which has an estimated top speed of 340 km/h. Both of the models have a V12 engine with more than 6000 cc.

Lamborghini Dubai Service Center

The Lamborghini line is divided into two segments, Gallardo and Murcielago. Maintenance ranges heavily based on what you select. Specialists recommend that you change the oil and oil filter every 7500 miles. The cost of new transmission could cost you 180-200K Dirhams.

The Jaguar E-Type Series 3 Sports Car

Jaguar E-Type Series 3 – A close look at this classic sports car’s performance, technical data, features, comparing rivals, history, used prices.

from Classic to Modern

By 1971, the E-Type Jaguar sports car had been around for 10 years, and was beginning to show signs of ageing.

Furthermore, there was increased pressure on all car manufacturers to reduce engine emissions.

Although such reductions could have been applied to the original 6-cylinder XK engine, the end result would have been much reduced performance.

The answer lay in designing a new engine that would satisfy the US emission regulations, and yet still produce the performance the market expected.

A V8 was considered but, somehow, it just didn’t create the mystique that the E-Type sports car deserved.

Yet, the prestigious Ferrari and Lamborghini both sported V12 engines and so, maybe, this was the way to go.

In fact, such a unit possessed a number of advantages over the V8, not least was the fact that it ran so much smoother.

Furthermore, for a number of years, Jaguar had been developing a V12 engine for their experimental XJ13 race car.

This unit was therefore chosen, and further developed into a 5.3 litre, V12 that used a lightweight aluminium block and cylinder head, and would just fit inside the narrow sub-frame of the E-Type.

The final design generated efficient combustion, good mid range power, was easier and cheaper to manufacture, and met the anti pollution requirements.

It was fitted with electronic ignition, four Stromberg carburettors, and a free flow exhaust system.

The Series 3 E-type Jaguar sports car was launched in March 1971, and differed from the Series 2 in a number of ways:

  • The air intake in the bonnet was enlarged
  • A chrome grille was added
  • A low mounted air scoop was included to further increase cooling
  • The wheel arches were flared and enlarged
  • The track was increased by four inches
  • The width of the wheels was increased from five to six inches
  • Large rubber over-riders were fitted, both front and rear, on US export models to accommodate progressively stricter US crash regulaltions
  • Much smaller over-riders were needed for the home and European markets
  • A badge on the boot identified it as a “V12”.

Of there Jaguar cars, a limited number of the Series 3 variant were fitted with the 6-cylinder engine. Jaguar cars performance.

The fixed head variant was discontinued, and the remaining convertible and 2+2 fixed head coupe were both fitted with the longer 2+2 wheelbase, unlike the Series 1 and 2, which used the shorter wheelbase. This created a more aggressive image.

Power steering and limited slip differential remained standard equipment.

However, an anti-roll bar was added, the brakes were improved, and the front suspension geometry was modified for improved ant-dive characteristics.

The front sub-frame was strengthened in order to cater for the additional power of the V12, whilst a four outlet exhaust tailpipe added a stylish touch at the rear.

Interior improvements included a leather sports steering wheel, new seats, a slightly revised dashboard, and upgraded heating and ventilation.

Since both convertible and 2+2 variants were fitted with the longer wheelbase, automatic transmission was available to both, but for the first time on the convertible.

The Series 3 offered excellent value for money since it was priced at around half the cost of the competitive Ferrari and Aston Martin models.

However, some E-Type aficionados pointed out that the Series 3 was a gentleman’s sports car, and was a far cry from the original down-to-earth style of the Series 1 and 2 Jaguar cars.

Furthermore, some critics said that the new V12 engine deserved a completely redesigned car rather than remarketing the updated original model.

By now, it was obvious that the days of the Series 3 Jaguar sports car were numbered.

In fact, as it turned out, the 2+2 coupe was discontinued at the end of 1973, with the convertible following it in February 1975.

The last 50 convertibles built were painted black, and each received a brass plaque on the dashboard, signed by the founder of Jaguar, Sir William Lyons, to signify these were the last E-Types built.

Interestingly, these last units turned out to be difficult to sell which, sadly, reflected the market’s indifference at that time.

As a mark of respect for the legendary E-Type Jaguar sports car, the last unit built was kept as a showpiece by the company.

Following fourteen years of production, over 72,000 E-Types were produced, with over 80% being exported.

In terms of total units produced, 15,287 Series 3 E-Types were built, consisting of: 7,990 convertibles, and 7,297 2+2 fixed head coupes.

In fact, only 2,116 right hand drive versions of the Series 3 convertible were produced.

Jaguar for sale

In terms of sales of these Jaguar cars, since the convertible was the more popular, then an example in good condition could command between $60,000 and $80,000, whilst one in showroom condition could reach as much as $150,000.

Of all Jaguar cars, this must surely rate as the most beautiful.

The Jaguar XJ13 Sports Car

Jaguar XJR13 – A close look at this classic sports car’s performance, technical data, features, comparing rivals, history, used prices from Classic to Modern.

In 1960, the company considered the idea of a mid-engined Jaguar sports car racer powered by a double overhead cam, V12 engine to challenge the supremacy of Ford and Ferrari.

However, the design of a mid-engined car was breaking new ground for the company.

The engine was based around a 5 litre, V12 unit in which two double overhead cam, 6-cylinder XK units were joined to a common crankshaft and an aluminium block. This was to be known as project XJ6.

The final engine required changes to the inlet ports, valves, and shape of the combustion chamber, and first ran in 1964.

It was originally fitted with six SU carburettors, which were subsequently replaced by Lucas mechanical fuel injection, and was linked to a five speed ZF gearbox which drove the rear wheels.

The car was to be built from the ground upwards with an eye to ultimate entry at Le Mans, and work began in 1965.

The engine was positioned directly behind the driver, and acted as the only form of support behind the rear bulkhead.

This meant that the suspension was positioned on the sides of this unit, and consisted of all round independent, with coil springs and dampers at the front.

The new car was finally designated the XJ13 Jaguar sports car.

The beautiful aluminium body design was down to Malcolm Sayer, who was also responsible for the styling of the C-Type, D-type, and E-Type.

The first completed prototype ran in March 1966 powered by a 5 litre, V12 engine, which developed 502 bhp at 7600 rpm, and 386 ft/lbs of torque at 6300 rpm, and with a compression ratio of 10.4:1.

This produced a top speed of 178 mph, with a 0-60 mph time of 3.3 secs.

However, within the year, the Le Mans race regulations were changed, which meant that the maximum engine capacity allowed had been reduced to 3 litres.

At a stroke, with its current engine, the XJ13 Jaguar sports car was no longer able to race at Le Mans and was, in effect, redundant.

By now, the engine fitted to the XJ13 was being used as a test bed for the development of Jaguar’s upcoming V12 engine.

Since the car was not allowed to race at Le Mans, it was kept in store until 1971, when the Series 3 E-Type was launched, powered by the production V12, XK engine.

Essentially, therefore, the XJ13 sports car was the first car to be fitted with what would become the V12 unit that powered other production Jaguars from 1971 onwards.

Development of the Xj13 was never regarded as a priority by Jaguar cars, and by the time the first prototype was built in 1966, Ford had introduced their 7 litre GT40, which meant that the Jaguar was completely outclassed.

To make matters worse, when the prototype was tested at Silverstone, it was found that it required considerable development in order for it to become competitive.

Consequently, this single prototype would be the only example of the XJ13 sports car.

In 1971, the car was presented to the press and public, and driven to the MIRA test track to form the opening sequence of a film promoting the launch of the V12 E-Type.

Unfortunately, whilst travelling at over 140 mph, a rear tyre blew, and the car rolled over and was nearly destroyed.

However, instead of being scrapped, the car spent the next two years being completely rebuilt.

Jaguar rebuilt the engine, and new body panels were added to produce a rejuvenated XJ13, which was then kept in Jaguar’s Heritage Collection.

Following an accident a few years later, the car was again completely rebuilt to produce a final version probably even better than when it first appeared as a prototype.

Jaguar for Sale

Of all the Jaguar cars, the XJ13 was quite unique, with only one ever being built. As a measure of its value as a collector’s car, an offer of £7 million in 1996 was rejected by the owners, the Heritage Collection.

In the Jaguar cars range, the XJ13 must surely be regarded as one of the most beautiful. One can only imagine… what if it was developed further, and was allowed to take on Ford (GT40), Ferrari, and Porsche outside of Le Mans!

A Few Tips to New Drivers

A ton of research has been done on new drivers. The resulting factors are actually quite terrible. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration states:-

1. The new drivers are seen to have the maximum number of accidents.

2. Crashes in motor-cycles are the causes of death of most 15-20 year olds. 40% of teen deaths in every town are caused by this.

3. 50% of all fatal accidents happen at night when 16-19 year olds are driving.

4. The hours of 9:00 to 6:00 are the time for 43% of all teen motor vehicle deaths.

5. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday is the time for 54% of all motor vehicle deaths.

6. Alcohol is involved in about 36% of the crashes responsible for killing young people.

In case you choose not to be a part of these statistics, here are a few tips to help you go through these:-

1. Seat belts- Make sure you always wear your seat belt and do not move the car until all the passengers have buckled up.

2. Timing-A major reason for accidents in teens has been speeding. The faster your car is moving, the longer it takes to stop. This in turn increases the impact, leading to greater chances of damage. Always take enough time and make sure that you do not cause accidents due to sheer speeding.

3. Distance-a car moving at 50 kmph takes a certain amount of distance to come to a halt. Practically it takes about 14 meters to stop from that distance. Make sure you are always this distance away to avoid collision.

4. Driving Conditions- Raining, snowing, foggy or icy driving has to be done below the speed limit if you prefer safety. You may otherwise postpone your travels for other days.

5. No texting while driving-never let your attention get away from the road. Distractions can be very dangerous; especially for new drivers. Eating, drinking, texting or calling, they all fall in the category of the not-to-do list while you are at driving duty.

6. Adjust every accessory-Mirrors, seat, stereo must all be in place before you start driving. All loose objects that you are carrying must all be secured at the end of your car.

7. Never drive if you are sleepy.

8. Driving at nights, must, better be done after you have enough practice.

9. Try parking in a way, so you don’t have to back-up as your first move, when you start your car.

10. Watch out for yourself, but in the process don’t neglect others.
