2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class pictures leaked

Speculation about the next-generation Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen centered on whether Daimler will switch to a new platform or not. Given the legendary stature of the G-Class, they cannot screw it up.A week earlier than the actual reveal date comes a bunch of leaked images that show off the all-new G-Class in all its glory.

Very few vehicles retain its original shape and design for decades and the Mercedes-Benz G-Class is one of them. The new model carries the venerated boxy design of the Geländewagen albeit with a flurry of modern touches. The new model is believed to be no wider than the outgoing G-Class but exterior dimensions are yet to be confirmed. But smarter packaging of stuff has supposedly liberated more space inside the cramped SUV, although we don’t see how that is possible, since there was not extra space to play with in the first place.

And speaking of stuff, there must be a lot. Following the modern lines of Mercedes Benz, the new G-Class must be a tech-fest but we’ll have to wait till the official launch to know what’s in there.

The construction of the G-Class is going to follow the old-school ladder-type frame style. It will be complemented by three diff locks and a low-range gearbox to give it very capable legs off the tarmac. But that will be all from the well-aged formula and the rest are all modern. For instance, a new independent double wishbone suspension has been developed by Mercedes and AMG along with an updated rear axle. New engines will pop up in the engine bay but the details are not out as of now. But a V12 AMG model is not very likely to come back as Mercedes has mentioned before that the V12 will be reserved for Maybach models. Along with the new engines, a new nine-speed automatic transmission with a torque-converter is also being readied for the 2019 G-Class.

The 2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class will reveal its face officially at the 2018 Detroit Motor Show where all the details about the new model will be made available.

MINI Tipped To Reveal Updated Hatchbacks, Convertible In Detroit

It may not seem that long ago that Mini rolled out the current core of its range (pictured). But it’s been four years now, which means it’s about time for a refresh. And that’s just what the British marque has in store for this year’s Detroit Auto Show.

Autonews reports that BMW’s little retro brand will showcase updated versions of the three- and five-door Hardtop hatchbacks along with a similarly revised version of the convertible next week at the Cobo Center in the heart of the Michigan metropolis.

We aren’t expecting much cosmetic deviation from the brand’s signature retro style, however changes to the engines are anticipated to deliver better fuel economy. The new dual-clutch transmission may not make it to North America, but don’t be surprised to see some interior enhancements in store.

More than that, we couldn’t tell you at this point. But with the 2018 North American International Auto Show now just a week away, it won’t be long before we have all the details – so watch this space.

Chinese Demand Drives Cadillac Sales To Second Best Year Ever

Cadillac has just reported the second-highest sales year in its history, thanks largely to skyrocketing demand in China.

A total of 356,467 vehicles were delivered by Cadillac in 2017, a 15.5 per cent sales increase over the previous year. Despite this increase, sales of the brand’s vehicles actually fell by 8 per cent in the United States from 170,006 in 2016 to 156,440 last year.

However, China more than made up for this. In fact, Cadillac reports a 50.8 per cent increase in sales in China, soaring from 116,406 in 2016 to 175,489 deliveries by the time the clock struck midnight on December 31, 2017. In a timespan much quicker than Cadillac predicted, China has become the brand’s largest market.

The most popular Cadillac currently on sale is the XT5 crossover with 143,905 examples delivered to customers throughout 2017. Additionally, ATS sales rose 17.2 per cent and the average sales price of a Cadillac in the United States continues to increase, currently sitting at “well above $54,000.”

“The resurgence of the brand is underscored by our attaining the second-highest total sales figure in Cadillac’s 115-year history,” said Cadillac president Johan de Nysschen.

“Our objective of rapidly establishing a second volume hub for the brand to complement our U.S. operations has been attained, as our Chinese business grew exponentially, leaving us well-positioned for sustained growth going forward.”

2018 BMW 540d xDrive Brings Diesel Power To The United States

BMW’s diesel-powered lineup is about to get a new addition as the EPA has signed off on the new 540d xDrive, as reported on TCC.

Designed to appeal to diesel fans, the model is expected to mirror the 530d which is offered in other markets. As a result, the car should have a 3.0-liter diesel engine that develops 261 hp (265 PS / 195 kW) and 457 lb-ft (620 Nm) of torque. The engine is connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system which enables the sedan to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 5.4 seconds.

The EPA listing for the 2018 540d xDrive reveals the model will be rated at 26 mpg city, 36 mpg highway, and 30 mpg combined. The government agency goes on to say drivers can expect to spend around $1,500 annually to refuel the luxury sedan.

The 540d xDrive will reportedly go on sale in the United States next month and cost $62,995 including destination charges. That’s significantly more than the 530e xDrive iPerformance which features a plug-in hybrid powertrain that enables the model to travel up to 15 miles (24 km) on electricity alone.

McLaren Senna is a street-legal beast ready to tame any track

Throughout the year, McLaren has teased a new hypercar they’ve been not so secretly working on. Taunted as the P15, the wraps have finally been lifted, and the McLaren Senna has taken the automotive world by storm.

Jaw-dropping from every angle, McLaren’s latest dream machine is built on top a carbon-fibre chassis. Weighing in at 1,198 kilos, the McLaren Senna is the lightest road car the British manufacturer has ever created.

Beside model being a mobile piece of art, a flurry of advanced aerodynamics are evident. Front and rear active aerodynamics raise downforce and aero control while movable flaps hide beneath the air intakes and the enlarged rear spoiler pushes the back end closer to the ground at high speeds.

Hiding beneath the aggressive exterior is an equally aggressive 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine driving the rear axle. Mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, 789 horsepower screams out fo the tailpipes and allows the McLaren Senna to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in lighting quick 2.5 seconds!

McLaren claims their latest hypercar uses one of the most advanced braking systems ever seen. Combining carbon ceramic brakes and years of motorsport technologies, the McLaren Senna rides on a custom set of Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tyres explicitly designed for the track but are approved for the road.

Each of the two doors are built from lightweight carbon fibre and both feature a unique two-piece glass pane. By allowing more light into the cabin, occupants can soak up the minimalistic yet technologically advanced interior.

A single free standing touchscreen multimedia interface stands out with three engaging toggle switches. Engine start button and window switches aren’t in their traditional locations. Instead, McLaren has moved them to the roof panel.

Drivers grip onto a three-spoke steering wheel with carbon fibre paddle shifters behind while a slim display shows drivers engine revs, speed and gear.

One example of this epic piece of machinery will set you back around $ 1 million or AED 3,673,100, and as of writing, every single Senna has been accounted for. The last model built was auctioned off for an astonishing $2.7 million of AED 9,917,370.

The new McLaren Senna is expected to be one of many highlights at next years, Geneva Motor Show, while production is set to start in late 2018.

Why McLaren Senna?

The McLaren Senna shares its name with Legendary Brazilian Formula One driver Ayrton Senna who happened to win no less than three world titles racing for the British manufacturer.
