Finding a great luxury car dealer can be more difficult than it might first appear! I’m not saying that all car dealers are slick, but unfortunately a few of them are. Finding someone who’s going to help you navigate buying an $80,000 or more car is often a little problematic.
For one thing, different dealers specialize in different types of cars. Some, do foreign cars, others domestic. Some are into flashy sports cars, others Range Rovers. So, first off, you need to get fairly clear on what type of car you want to buy. Do you want a sports car with two seats? Or do you want a fancier family car, like a Range Rover? Are you into a specific brand, like Mercedes? So, again, the first thing you need to do is to get this understood.
The next thing you want to do is to visit a few showrooms. Your goal, here, is not to buy a car…not just yet. But to get a feel for the business. You know, how they treat you. Are they a high pressure company? If so, then get the heck out of there. Or, are they friendly and happy to answer all your questions, and let you take a nice test drive. it’s really important to find a good dealership that you get along with because, you’re going to go back there for maintenance problems and for scheduled maintenance. You want someone who you trust. And, if they’re high pressure, you can’t trust them.
Do you know any friends who have bought luxury cars in the recent past? If so, ask them about their experiences. Also, check online. A lot of online directories let people post the opinions about a given company. Be careful about this, though! Companies hire people to pad posts. Also, some unscrupulous companies hire people to leave negative feedback on their competitor’s pages.
